We’ve made it to the end of the week; it’s been one of those ones where you feel like you haven’t stopped and you’re counting down each day for a gin at the weekend. But, it’s Friday, we’re a few hours away from the weekend, so let’s celebrate with a dose of client success that makes it all worth it!

This client in particular had been with another agency for a number of years. During that time, they’d built a relationship with this agency so they felt safe and comfortable with their services; trusting their business was in safe hands. However, during this time they’d not grown significantly, despite spending thousands a year on marketing.

They approached Acquiro Digital to see what we could do for them and we put a proposal for SEO & PPC together for them. Despite not seeing growth over the years, they were understandably nervous and scared to place their trust in a new agency – this business was their entire livelihood, what if it didn’t work out as planned? 

There’s no guarantee that SEO will work, but we made it clear we wouldn’t take on new clients if we didn’t think we could get results – being a new agency we needed our strategies to produce some impressive results. We made it clear from the start that it may take some time to see some recovery in organic traffic; after all, it had taken years to get to this point. However, many agencies will sell you the dream; they’ll tell you that you’ll be top spot in Google within a few weeks when in reality it takes much longer. It’s not just a sales technique used to get more money out of clients – SEO is an investment and it requires a lot of work to get where you need to be – but it’s hugely rewarding when it works.

Luckily, the client had a basic understanding of SEO and they knew this was the case, and appreciated our honesty so they decided to give us a try. We set out an initial target of seeing a recovery in their organic traffic (they were 20% down YoY at the time) and improving the positioning of their highly competitive keyword within 6-9 months.

We were wrong.

We actually seen a significant growth in organic traffic, revenue and visibility within 3 months.

In 3 months, we’d successfully increased the position of their top priority keyword from the bottom of page 1 to position 1. This is a highly competitive term, getting more than 30,000 searches per month, so it resulted in a surge in organic traffic and revenue – a 110% increase to be exact.

I still stick by that SEO is not a quick fix; you probably won’t see an instant return on investment and the majority of the time it takes time and a lot of work to get where you want to be. However in some cases like this one – which required some technical fixes and more relevant content that was written with the customer in mind – it is possible.
